The Doctor is alerted to a disturbance in time when guerilla soldiers from the 22nd Century arrive.  Their aim is to kill Sir Reginald Styles, who is about to host an important international peace conference.  Styles, it seems, is blamed by these temporally displaced soldiers for blowing up the conference, an event which triggers World War III, and leaves the Earth vulnerable to be conquered by the Daleks and their brutish thugs, the Ogrons.  But is Styles really to blame?  How much culpability to the guerilla soldiers themselves bear for the events that would unfold from their temporal intrusion?

What did you think of the story that started Season 9?

I'm well aware of Day's faults, but I have an illogical passion for it. Maybe that's because of the location of the Dalek Time Tunnel, which we had a Wrinkly visit to a few years ago.

IMO the SE is simply brilliant as well, so this is a solid 5/5 from me.

I knew you'd rate this one quite highly, C=O. While I thought the whole idea of the guerillas having created the dystopian future they were attempting to avert was brilliant, some of the flaws in this episode do sort of glare at you. Still, it is an entirely re-watchable and re-enjoyable story, so I'll give it a 4/5.
