Series 8 news and beyond - may contain spoilers!
With filming due to start in January, the first solid bit of news is that Ben Wheatley will be directing two episodes.

Re: Series 8 news and beyond - may contain spoilers!
Pinch of salt as always required.
- Spoiler:
- 1. Written by Steven Moffat. Set in Victorian London (sigh) this features the return of the Clockwork Androids from “The Girl in the Fireplace” . A twin ship of SS Madame de Pompadour is under the Thames, and the androids are harvesting human parts.
2. Written by Chris Chibnall.
3. Written by Gareth Roberts. Directed by Paul Murphy.
4 & 5. Two parter written by Frank Cottrell Boyce, directed by Ben Wheatley. To be filmed first. The Doctor and Clara are miniaturised inside a Dalek which is exterminating its own kind.
6. Written by Steven Moffat. Directed by Paul Murphy.

You know who we haven't had a story contribution from in a while is Paul Cornell. I'd like to see something with the emotional whollup of Human Nature/Family Of Blood.

Well,
- Spoiler:
- much as i loved the clockwork androids, I feel nervous at the idea of their return. They seemed a perfect one story 'villain' (if they can be called that) and I fear their story will be added to and stretched in the way the srory of the weeping angels was. They seemed better in Blink than in later stories to me. More mysterious.

No sign of Cornell AFAIK.
- Spoiler:
- If what I've posted is even vaguely correct, IMO there's a stunning lack of originality.
Capaldi is meant to the "The Dark Doctor".

- Spoiler:
- 'Mmm, Clare Osmium? Mmm?'
Clockwork droids in Victorian London sounds like something from a Moffat random episode generator.

"The Master and River Song to return".
Definitely heard about the Master elsewhere. However it really is time to lay River Song to rest IMO.

I don't mind either of those returning characters, so long as the story itself is compelling. I don't want River popping up merely to say "Hello, Sweetie" once again.

Any truth to Phil Ford providing the other script to be directed by Wheatley, along with Cottrell-Boyce's Dalek tale?

Re: Series 8 news and beyond - may contain spoilers!
I've had it from several sources that Phil Ford's is earlyish on, so that would seem to be logical on the basis that Cottrell Boyce's is a one parter.
