Have You Ordered Your Series 4 Box DVD Set Yet?
Back in early September, I got an email from Amazon.com offering a tremendous deal (which included free shipping) if you pre-ordered the Series 4 box DVD collection. I quickly snapped it up. Yesterday, I got a confirmation email that the collection has been shipped, and is due to arrive Thursday.
Total price (and yes, I'm bragging a bit): $64.99. And if my currency converter is correct, that's £43. And no shipping charges.
When it arrives, the first thing I'll do is watch the Confidentials. I love the Confidentials!
So, question for everyone (two, actually):
Have you ordered your DVD set for Series 4 yet, and if so, when it arrives, or when you pick it up at the store, what do you plan to watch first? An episode? An episode with audio commentary? Some of the bonus material? Confidentials?

Not yet, I hope to suggest it as a perfect birthday present though.

1) Of course I have.Patrick wrote:So, question for everyone (two, actually):

2) I think I'll have a look at some of the bonus material first.

1) Good for you.
2) After watching the Confidentials, the first thing I turn to is the deleted scenes and the out-takes.

Re: Have You Ordered Your Series 4 Box DVD Set Yet?
I haven't ordered mine yet. I actually have never ordered any of the series boxsets. In fact apart from the series one set, I don't even own any of the boxsets. I have my off-air dvds to keep me going for now, and I'm awaiting any/all of them either as birthday/Christmas presents or cheapy-cheap in the sales.
Does this make me a bad fan...?

Not at all. I make a point of not buying the boxsets until I see them for, at most, £30.
I didn't get Series One until April this year, and Series Two about a month ago. Still haven't got Series Three.
Re: Have You Ordered Your Series 4 Box DVD Set Yet?
Considering how nice it is to get a DW DVD as a gift, not at all. The only thing better than Doctor Who on DVD is Doctor Who on DVD that you didn't have to pay for.Sid Seadevil wrote:I haven't ordered mine yet. In this case, I'm afraid I lack the patience to wait, especially where Series 4 is concerned.

I'm in total agreement with Zoltar. I'm secretly hoping that they included as the audio commentary that really great conversation between RTD, The Moff and David Tennant on Forest of the Dead. Even if they don't, the extras and Confidenials are worth the price of purchase alone.

Ah, then I'll breath a sign of relief that my fan credentials remain just this side of in tatters.Patrick wrote:Zoltar wrote:In this case, I'm afraid I lack the patience to wait, especially where Series 4 is concerned.

That conversation really is a thing of beauty, is it not. I'd certainly be heavily persuaded to add the set to my collection just for it, were I one of those dithering swing voters.

Re: Have You Ordered Your Series 4 Box DVD Set Yet?
Just to show you how bad our postal service is, the free shipping option is 'USPS Ground'. I have a tracking number, and I've been monitoring it since I got the email confirmation that it shipped. Let's see: shipped Friday from Lexington, KY. The latest entry was Sunday, when it was received at a distribution center in Cincinnati, OH. Two days to cross a river?
They're still saying I'll get it by this Friday, but there isn't any notice in the tracking details that it's left Cincinnati yet.

I saw the Series 3 boxed set at £30 in Tesco's yesterday. You might want to check your local store out!
I got my boxed set from HMV yesterday, gold-embossed Supreme Dalek cover, at £55. Watched The Journey So far documentary first, then watched the episodes with the commentary, didn't go to bed til 1.30 am, late for work, missed a meeting, got in trouble. I don't care, DW comes first!

I'm waiting for my Gold Embossed HMV special series 4 boxset as we speak. Last year I bought the Amazon lenticular Master cover, and I can't say how much I'm shocked to find it's now worth around 170 odd squid!!!

Ah, but Sidney Q. Seadevil, you're missing all sorts of Series 4 surprises! Tennant's video diary includes a very amusing scene from the back seat of a car as Tennant and Julie Gardner are being driven down to Blackpool for some sort of a holiday lighting festival. Because of traffic, some city official, worried Tennant will be late, orders a police escort for them, which thoroughly amuses Ms. Gardner.

I've been working through mine since Monday - firstly with the commentaries, then I'll rewatch the episodes themselves. Apart from 'The Doctor's Daughter', 'cause I'm never watching that again...
