Yes, pretty terrible, IIRC. They couldn't even bring themselves to finish it off - it was that bad. And that French(?) bloke had stupid glasses.

The Tripods was not terrible. It was a superb series and the failure to make series three was entirely down to TV's dumbing downer in chief Michael Grade.

It was filmed at the castle of someone famous - now dead, a vegetarian, loved animals, rather vain, played backgammon.

i was given the first series on dvd for my birthday some years back. it is unbelievably tedious as a few adric clones wander around rural france for what seems like several years.

Well I was close.
Have to say I haven't seen any Tripods when I've been wandering around rural France these past couple of years. Just goes to prove what a load of old baloney the show was.
