The rather belated Series 5 Top Three
Following a bit of discussion in the "What is your favourite story" thread, several months late here's a chance for Wrinklies to have a slightly *wider* say in what they thought of Series 5.
Simply place your favourite three stories (not episodes) in order of preference. 1st placed scores 3 points, 2nd place 2 points, 3rd place 1 point. We can give it a couple weeks and then see what sort of outcome we get!

Having mused the question:
1. Vincent and The Doctor
2. The Eleventh Hour
3. The Lodger*
*and it was an infinitesimally close call on the placings of 2&3)

Hmmmm...and early indications point to a clear pattern emerging.

Re: The rather belated Series 5 Top Three
This is fascinating. I wonder whether this is the first time since the series returned that three episodes have so clearly lead such a straw poll from such an early stage?

Re: The rather belated Series 5 Top Three
Well, as I said, not a great deal to choose from. Sadly, those three are the only ones that come close to having the quality of scripting and characterisation of the previous regime. In fact, I'd probably stick Death of the Doctor in third place if it was a Doctor Who story!

Oh yes! If only for the weird annoyed faces Liz Sladen pulled when Katy Manning went off on one!

Indeed. Sladen was very precious that night. And that's being kind to her!

Re: The rather belated Series 5 Top Three
3pts Amy's Choice
2pts The Beast Below
1pt The Lodger
Apologies for being a statistical anomoly. I didn't really like Love and Monsters either. Please don't throw me out of the Wrinklies.

No need to worry about being thrown out, stan. Wrinklies after all are all about all inclusion. Thanks for taking the time and trouble to cast your vote. Each and every one helps. And you've made some interesting choices.stanmore wrote:3pts Amy's Choice

Re: The rather belated Series 5 Top Three
I'm a big fan of dreamscapes and British pop culture. The top two seemed to be filmed inside the brain of a tripping beefeater. The Lodger appealled to my sensitive side.

Re: The rather belated Series 5 Top Three
Excellent reasoning. Now you see it's the why somebody finds a certain episode/s particularly excellent that can prove as interesting as simply their revealing what those episodes are.stanmore wrote:I'm a big fan of dreamscapes and British pop culture. Re: The rather belated Series 5 Top Three
I think I'll go for
Vincent and the Doctor (3 pts)
Amy's Choice (2 pts)
Then I'm not at all sure; either The Eleventh Doctor or The Lodger probably but I'll get back when I've decided.

Please do andrea. Without a third choice, Vincent scores 2 points & Amy's Choice 1.

Well, you said we had a couple of weeks to vote so-o... I'm thinking. The Co=Ordinator wrote:Please do andrea. Without a third choice, Vincent scores 2 points & Amy's Choice 1.
Most stories just sort of sit in the middle with stuff you liked and stuff you didn't like so choosing something from that is... sort of silly on an individual level but probably makes more sense in a poll because the various individuals having to choose one way or the other will even out, if that makes sense.
So..........The Lodger (1 pt)
