Would it be inappropriate to say I hope she goes all the way?
(I'd certainly watch that.)

When Lady Christina sat down on the edge of the gravity well, was I the only one thinking 'Nice bum'?

How long before the bus or final scene gets a "Chitty-Chitty Bang Bang" backtrack on YouTube?

Forgot to drop by here earlier. I enjoyed it, light and fun and entertaining.
So, this one was sand. The next one's water. I wonder if there's wind or fire in the next two.
Yep. I believe it was.Patrick wrote:Knock four times- wasn't that how many taps the Master used, in rhythm, during The Sound of Drums?

Re: Rate 'Planet of the Dead'
Gave it a four: it was jolly good fun.
Lee Evans worked out much better than I expected: there was one moment when I thought he was going into embarrassingly-over-the-top mode, but then he reined it back in.
Liked the wee reference to Donna.

The next one looks better.
I think I have to agree with you Rich. Disappointingly average.

4/5 A brilliant story. Miles better than The Next Doctor, that's how it should be done

Good. Differences of opinion are what it's all about. Personally, for me at least, I'm a bit tired of RTD, Tennant, Gardner, Doctor Who Confidential...the whole lot. It's all rapidly going up its own arse and I can't wait for the 11th and Moffat to get started. The show needs an injection of new blood. The Waters Of Mars does look far more promising to me.
Re: Rate 'Planet of the Dead'
I know exactly what you mean Frank. It's time for change, though I fear Joe Public would rather have more of the same - and that's who the show is being made for after all.

Re: Rate 'Planet of the Dead'
Thinking about it, the only special that has really worked for me as Doctor Who is The Christmas Invasion*. I think that is because it is the only one that felt like an ordinary episode, albeit with Christmas trimmings, complete with the usual companions. I think I am not keen on one off companions. I agree with Rich and Frank that the other passengers should have been more fleshed out but with so much concentration on Christina and then shoehorning in UNIT and Malcolm there was no time.
* I do quite like Voyage of the Damned.

Re: Rate 'Planet of the Dead'
I also think it is time for change. None of us can yet know if we will like whatever Moffat's vision of Doctor Who and Smith's interpretation of the Doctor turn out to be but we need them. Of course, the fact that Davies and Tennant know they are nearly gone must be affecting what they do. They too are ready for change. The Co=Ordinator wrote:I know exactly what you mean Frank. i completely agree that it's good to have a change. during the original run the show got very stale in the 80s due to JNT staying in his job far too long. i think 3 or 4 years are about right. i am a bit worried about Matt Smith replacing Tennant who i think was excellent again yesterday and is probably the best doctor we've ever had.
hopefully i'm completely wrong though!!

Re: Rate 'Planet of the Dead'
I enjoyed that a lot. Good fun, great dialogue.
It felt like a season-opener, introducing a companion*, with that same sort of light approach backed up by portents of doom...
And the 500 Malcolms = a Bernard was the funniest joke I've heard for ages (I have a sad life...).
The Waters Of Mars looks great.
*I know, I know! She's not going to be a continuing companion, just saying it felt like that!

Re: Rate 'Planet of the Dead'
I'm just watching the Confidential on iPlayer and realised that the buses came from Hedingham Omnibus...which means that in their working life there's a good chance they both passed by my house regularly as their red double-deckers used to be on the routes to Colchester. Indeed, there's a chance I've even been on one or both of them at some point...

Ladies and Gentlemen, Nick Barlow and his 'six degrees of separation' connection to Doctor Who.
