It's actually a pretty entertaining show. They back the team of younger heroes with established JLAers like Batman, Red Tornado and Black Canary. They also have a 16 member Justice League team that makes appearances in the show now and then as well.Sid Seadevil wrote:Fate too? I'm sold!

Sounds right up my street. Besides I need something to fill the vacuum left by B&B being off air. By the way, have you seen Marvel Knights: Black Panther, yet? I saw an episode. Hated it. Voice casting, animation, design. Just didn't work for me on any level.

I've heard about it several times, but never actually seen an episode. Can't say I'm in a hurry to do so now, given your reaction to it.Sid Seadevil wrote:Sounds right up my street. Yes, I was very disappointed by it. I was hoping for so much better. But then again, Marvel still lags quite a way behind DC when it comes to animation, in my opinion.Zoltar wrote:I've heard about it several times, but never actually seen an episode. Re: The Comic Thread
I tend to agree. The latest Avengers cartoon has been pretty good, but it still doesn't equal something like DC's Justice League work. They've put out some good direct-to-DVD movies, had some good series over the years (mostly with Spidey), but they've yet to have their Batman the Animated Series or Justice League. I hear good things about the next Spidey series though.Sid Seadevil wrote:Yes, I was very disappointed by it. I was hoping for so much better. Agreed. I'm looking forwards to the new Spidey series myself. Although it's going to be interesting to see how it stacks up against both the New Batman and Green Lantern animated series which should air roughly around the same time.Zoltar wrote:I tend to agree. Sad news, Dwayne McDuffie has died. Just as the adaptation of All-Star Superman he wrote sees it's release.

Absolutely. Not so much as a hint anything might be wrong. It appears so far as if whatever happened came totally out of the blue.Zoltar wrote:It's a shock, really, given how he seemed to be fine during all the recent interviews relating to All-Star.

Re: The Comic Thread
So, Brightest Day has wrapped up, leaving us with...
- Spoiler:
- ...Swamp Thing and Constantine returned to the DCU. I'm happy to see Swampy back, looking forward to seeing where this leads. And I'm glad this will have no affect on the Hellblazer comic.

Just read it myself earlier today. Excellent wrap-up to what has been a highly, highly enjoyable series. The same goes for Justice League: Generation Lost. I'm really looking forward to the new monthly JLI ongoing.

Re: The Comic Thread
My favourite comics at the moment are, Woverine, who seems to have a fanastic run of stories and is very interesting. Captain America written by Brubaker. All other Marvels are leaving me cold, Spidey has been wrecked for many years and the clone saga type storylines are back with the jackal, under the banner of Spider Island. The Avengers has also been taken apart to several different books and has lost it's soul.

FF and Captain America are the only two Marvels I read now. I miss Spidey, but it's not the same since they did away with his marriage. I'm concentrating on getting reprints of stuff from the 70s at the mo.

Re: The Comic Thread
You really should check out Waid, Rivera and Martin's Daredevil, Rich. For the first time in forever, the writers aren't indebted to Frank Miller, and it feels all the better for it. And the art is brilliant, albeit cartoony.Rich Flair wrote:FF and Captain America are the only two Marvels I read now. I miss Spidey, but it's not the same since they did away with his marriage. I've no problems with them dissolving Spidey's marriage (having said that, I do wish it was better written) so Spidey, FF and Daredevil are the only Marvel's I'm currently interested in. Enjoying some of the Nu DC52's though.
By the way, Rich, I was digging through some old comics and found a complete set of the 80's reprints of Kirby's New Gods if you'd like to borrow them. I'll bring them along next time we meet up if you're interested.

Re: The Comic Thread
I've got them thanks, Lee - got the last two I was missing a few months ago!
Daredevil does look good, and it's gettting good reviews, so I'll definitely pick that up. I'm a wait for the trade guy now!

Re: The Comic Thread
I've had renewed interest in comics of late, so I've been sampling several of the "New 52" as well as some Marvel titles. Of the DC titles, Batman's probably my favorite. Swamp Thing, Action, Animal Man and Wonder Woman have also been very good.
From Marvel, I'm reading Daredevil, Spidey, Captain America, Uncanny X-Force, Wolverine and the X-Men and The Punisher amongst others. Despite never having liked the 90s Clone Saga stuff, I thought Spider-Island was a lot of fun. The first issue of Wolverine and the X-Men was also surprisingly lighthearted. DD has been top notch, it's a great read.
I'm looking forward to Captain Britain joining the Secret Avengers soon. The writer, Rick Remender, seems to have a great knack for embracing continuity without having his stories feel weighed down by it. I've liked how he's handled Psylocke in the X-Force title, so I'm curious to see how he'll use Brian's history in the book.
