Nante Kroll. Kroll's in the comic book but not in the film. The squid union is up in arms...
Re: Who'll Be Watching The Watchmen?
Well, having seen the ending of the film, it's a lot less convincing than the ending of the comic!

Re: Who'll Be Watching The Watchmen?
I don't mind it being removed myself, but one has to remember Hollywood is kind of a giant machine. I don't know if was VISIONARY DIRECTOR Zack Snyder who removed it all on his own or if it was some focus group or executive or something.Doc Filth wrote:I like the squid...
Not that I don't see why Snyder changed the ending, but I can't join in the sudden cry of "Oh, well, the squid was rubbish anyway". It works fine for me.

Well, at least the squid ending was set up - clues point towards it from Chapter One. The new ending? Probably made up on the day of filming. Definitely not set up in the film.

Re: Who'll Be Watching The Watchmen?
Well, I'm gutted.
I spent a lot of time cultivating the right contacts and eventually got on a list for a bloggers only press screening of the film. Opened the email last night to find it's happening and it's this morning at 10.30. Day full of meetings today so I couldn't even sack the day off and jump on the train.

Re: Who'll Be Watching The Watchmen?
I've been checking the show times for my local theatre since last weekend. Their website keeps telling me they don't have movie times for Friday scheduled yet. But I will plan to attend one of the early showings (if you go on a Friday before noon, you usually have the entire theatre to yourself, because all the kids are still in school.)

Don't get me wrong, it's f'in brilliant. But it's nothing compared to the comic.

Re: Who'll Be Watching The Watchmen?
So should I read the comic before I see it?
I often look at adaptations as totally separate that have nothing to do with the source material. It's self delusion at it's best.

Re: Who'll Be Watching The Watchmen?
I dunno, I would. Since the movie's doubtless going to be a condensed version of the story, it would probably help to fill in some blanks.Kate Seadevil wrote:So should I read the comic before I see it?

Yes, you should definitely read the comic before you see it. You'd understand the film better. And the comic is better. I don't see how you can seperate the the film from the source material, or what you really mean by the self delusion thing.

No, Tone, I've just got an opinion that you, I presume, don't agree with, though you haven't said why, apart from accusing me of being a troll, or of being Sparacus.
As I say, your loss if you don't read the comic. I've read the comic and seen the film so, y'know what? I think I know what I'm talking about.
