What Did You Think of "The Doctor's Wife"
Re: Rate "The Doctor's Wife"
Of course for the next 2 weeks we have Matthew Graham's return to the show. He really needs to live up to what Gaiman gave us and prove that Fear Her was a one off blip.

At any rate, I'm in agreement with Zoltar- I definately want to find the Confidential on this.

Gaiman reading from this own script is worth the price of admission alone.Dave Webb wrote:It has added Neil Gaiman. And TARDIS based nostalgia.

Re: Rate "The Doctor's Wife"
Neil Gaiman reading the London telephone directory would sound wonderful he has a wonderfully mellow reading voice. Him reading The Graveyard Book on his web site persuaded me to buy the book. I would dearly love it if Gaiman did the audio narration for blind people on the DVD release of this episode.Sid Seadevil wrote:Gaiman reading from this own script is worth the price of admission alone.Dave Webb wrote:It has added Neil Gaiman. I gave up on Confidential years ago. However following posts in this thread have just caught up with it on iplayer. Excellent stuff indeed.
Gaiman's place in Who Folklore is assured.

Re: Rate "The Doctor's Wife"
I have given it 5 as I could see it was indeed brilliant. However, at the moment I feel as if I admire it rather than love it. Perhaps a second viewing will change that - with the benefirt of having read Frank's review on CRT I think it might well do.
Personally, I am rather looking forward to Matthew Graham's episodes as I enjoyed Fear Her in its quiet way and would like another quiet little episode (or, indeed, two). I suppose I won't get it though...

Well, that was rather special. 5/5 all the way to the bank.
And wasn't Matt Smith stunning?

I think this may have been one of Smith's singular best performances in the role, actually. His interplay with Jones as Idris/The TARDIS was sublime and the stuff of Doctor Who legend.

I agree, he did a fantastic job. Loved his interplay with Suranne Jones, they were a great team.Patrick wrote:I think this may have been one of Smith's singular best performances in the role, actually. His interplay with Jones as Idris/The TARDIS was sublime and the stuff of Doctor Who legend.

I was also amazed by the Smith and Jones chemistry. Outstandingly excellent work by both performers.

Re: Rate "The Doctor's Wife"
I went for 4/5 - it was good, but I didn't think it was quite as knock-it-out-of-the-park amazing as everyone else seems to.
And quite frankly, if Graham's script is nothing more than the best of sparacus, I'll give it a 3/5 if we don't get another 'oh no, Rory's dead...oh wait, he got better' moment.

I'd like to see that, yes. Mrs. Hacky and I have finally gotten around to watching the first series of Life on Mars via Netflix and we're enjoying Graham's work.
Wait, is there something I don't know? Is Ben Chatham in it?Nick Barlow wrote:I went for 4/5 - it was good, but I didn't think it was quite as knock-it-out-of-the-park amazing as everyone else seems to.

(BUMP)
Thought everyone would like to know Neil Gaiman was awarded the Hugo for "The Doctor's Wife" this past Sunday. He promptly announced he's writing another script for Who.
