The next companion should be played by Montserrat Lombard. Seriously.

Seriously not. She's good. But certainly nothing remarkable as far as I've been able to gleam. There's far better actresses with a wider range out there.

She doesn't need to be a companion - but I'd dearly love to see Emilia Fox make an apperance at some point.

Oh absolutely. Tilda Swinton too.

They'd both make great one-episode heroes/villains.

Thank-you! I'd love to see her filling a sort of Reinette or River Song role in a two-parter.

Or playing... dare I mention it... a Time Lady???

I just think she has a certain other-worldliness about her that would make her perfect for DW.

Agreed. I doubt they could afford her - but she'd certainly be a welcome addition to the guest-star ranks.

I wish we had a bigger budget.

Sad

we probably wouldn't be able to afford Hugh Laurie or Judi Dench either.

Meh. Money, money, money...

I'd love the new companion to be a girl who is, unlike the previous Nu Who companions, VERY shy and unsure of herself (like Miss Evangelista). As the series developed she would gradually lose that shyness and recognise that she can do anything she puts her mind to. Perhaps her shyness could be the result of being mocked for a disability. She might wear a hearing aid or something.

Oh, I wouldn't rule out Dame Judi quite yet. She's not exactly adversed to working for the BBC, even these days.

But surely these guest-star wishes/speculations belong more properly in your shiny new thread. Smile

It's certainly a nice idea for a new companion. And unlike them bringing back Adric from the dead to be the new full time companion, it's certainly possible.

Last time I saw her was in the recent Lost in Austin. But however much I'd love Florrie as companion, they'd need to do something awful to her former gasmask-headed sprog to enable the character to successfully join the Doctor.

...or just engineeer a situation wherein she's forcibly removed from the 1940s and can't get back there; we know the kid is safe and being looked after by someone else, and Nancy gets a whole bucket of angst to carry around.

Sorted.
No need to forcibly remove her from the 1940's. I always read the scene when Nancy tells young Jamie that she will always be his mother as being a goodbye, as she realises that there is no way that the authorities of the time would let a single mother keep her son. He would be taken away and adopted by a middle-class family somewhere.
The return scenario I dreamt up was that The Doctor meets up with the now childless Nancy in 1946. She is working as a nurse in the management of a hard-bitten vinegary old Ward Sister whose life is the hospital. Nancy is terrified that she will end up as dry and loveless as the Ward Sister. When the oppertunity to travel with The Doctor and escape that hollow fate presents itself to her, she jumps at it. (And this has nothing to do with me wanting to see Florence Hoath in a 1940's nurse's uniform, honest. silent )

Lets not forget that Nancy is a character originally created by Steven Moffat, so there would be no problem with copyright if he chose to bring her back.
