Are you being sarcastic or just not clueing in... Hon, if the folks in front stand up too, it's the same problem. The Co=Ordinator wrote:I'm sure I read that you can stand up!
Hah, a memory - when Obama came 'round for a local outdoor political rally before the presidential election, there was a crew of guys volunteering to boost up all the ladies for a few seconds apiece (for a glimpse and a photo). Yes, complete strangers. It was a (biiigg) friendly bonding kind of event.
Mind, I don't know if y'all in the UK do that sort of thing. Or if it would alarm folks when done indoors with seating to fall on...

Re: Doctor Who Live Tour!
BBC Worldwide has announced that Nigel Planer (The Young Ones, We Will Rock You, Evita, Chicago) will be joining the cast.
The new stage show, based on the smash-hit series Doctor Who, promises to deliver a spectacular audio/visual experience featuring live music, special effects and appearances from the show’s most popular monsters including Daleks, Cybermen, Scarecrows, Oods and Silurian. Planer will play the part of Vorgenson, a character exclusively adapted for the tour by the television programme’s Executive Producer and Lead Writer Steven Moffat.
Nigel said: “I’m incredibly excited to be joining Doctor Who Live and this role is something of a boyhood dream come true. My character Vorgenson, is the Greatest Showman in the Galaxy and using his incredible invention, ‘The Minimiser’, he can make any Doctor Who character appear on stage as part of his travelling show dedicated to his hero. “This live tour brings all the magic of the TV show together with a host of incredible effects. I hope that I can survive visiting nine cities in October sharing a stage with eleven Doctor Who Monsters and a flying Dalek in tow!”
The stage show will follow Vorgenson on an inter-galactic journey as he summons monsters in his Minimiser for the audience to see. Matt Smith will appear as the Doctor in specially filmed sequences to be shown on a giant screen on stage.
Craig Stanley, Doctor Who Live’s Producer says: “This show has something for everyone - Doctor Who fans, of course - but also anyone with a love of incredible illusions, imersive storytelling, magical music, scary monsters, and intergalactic heroes.” The producers have also revealed that Nick Briggs, famous for voicing some of the scariest Doctor Who monsters including the Daleks and Cybermen, is onboard to replicate his voice talents live on stage every night.
Doctor Who Live will also feature a spectacular array of stunts and illusions designed by Britain’s premiere illusionists, The Twins. The Twins have come to prominence by designing the illusion of flying without wires, and they have a reputation for large scale stunts including making an elephant disappear live on stage – they’ve even taught magic tricks to the likes of Brad Pitt and Gwyneth Paltrow.
With an out-of-this-world set, Doctor Who Live will feature special FX, optical illusions and spectacular pyrotechnics building to an epic finale all accompanied by the music of long-time Doctor Who composer Murray Gold and brought to life by a live band.
Doctor Who Live is a fully immersive music and monsters spectacular and promises the same excitement, adventure and suspense that viewers have come to expect from the TV programme. Please note that actors from the TV series will not be appearing live on stage.

Re: Doctor Who Live Tour!
Matt Smith talks about filming brand new video scenes for the tour.
"Basically, it's all narrative-based. Within that, there's a character which I can't name, and The Doctor has a lot of interactions with him. Also, you've got all the monsters - the Daleks, the Cybermen, the Weeping Angels, the Silurians, the Judoon, the Ood, the vampires. Churchill makes an appearance. [So does] Liz Ten. All of that is woven into this one narrative structure. On top of that, [composer] Murray Gold's music has scored a lot of the live-action that's taking place on the stage."

Carnival of Monsters is one of Moffat's favourite stories. He personally recommended it to Piers Wenger as one of the stories to watch when he became Executive Producer.

Re: Doctor Who Live Tour!
Opening night tonight. Have to say I don't sense much of a buzz about this. The Ninja & I are going on Sunday, it will be interesting to see just how many tickets have been sold.
In the meantime, here's an interview with Nigel Planer. It does contain some narrative background.
It’s the monsters and me essentially. You literally have all the visual effects and the music, and then 11 different types of monsters. But it also has a story. I’m playing Vorgenson, who’s the host for the evening. He’s the greatest showman in the galaxy. He’s invented a minimiser that can shrink creatures to microscopic size. He claims to love the Doctor, but he wants to put him in The Minimiser too. He loves him possibly a bit too much – sort of how a butterfly collector loves his specimens. He’s a bit cracked actually!
If people think he sounds very similar to Vorg, a character who appeared in the 1973 adventure A Carnival Of Monsters, then they’re right – I’m Vorgenson, Vorg’s son! That was in a Jon Pertwee episode. He’s part of the Doctor Who heritage, as it were. He’s using the minimiser to do a new carnival of monsters. I can still remember the trailers for the very first Doctor Who episode starring William Hartnell. And I remember being scared at the end of it and being quite shocked. When it first came on, it was quite radical in a way. But my favourite when I was a kid was Patrick Troughton.
I think it was when he came in that a slightly wittier, eccentric, more affable Doctor Who character started to develop. The current doctor Matt Smith is doing a brilliant job. People were worried because obviously David Tennant is an incredibly difficult act to follow, but Matt’s done a very difficult thing for an actor which is to grab it and make it his own. I will be working with him in a funny sort of way on the tour, he’ll always be on a screen – I’ll be working with a digital Matt.
I’m not sure what it will be like. I’ll tell you when I’ve done it! I’m sure it will be weird! Obviously I’d love to do the TV series. I don’t know if after this I’d be able to play a different character. I think I’d have to wait until Vorgenson found his way into the series. I suppose I could beg! Being in Doctor Who, it’s sort of the ultimate really, isn’t it?
Actually it would be quite refreshing to be known as that bloke from Doctor Who, rather than being recognised as ‘that hippie’, Neil from The Young Ones!
