When will Series 6 start?
Re: When will Series 6 start?
Running the full 13 episodes between January and March would be my preferred option, if it wasn't for the RBS Six Nations Rugby Union Tournament in February and March. Although over the past few years that usually start around about Week 7. So theoretically, you could run the first six episodes from the first Saturday of the year, then break for sport and then show the remaining seven episodes after Easter. In the next twelve year, there will be four freak years, like this year, 2014, 2017 and 2022, when Easter is exceptionally late. I those years, the series should start the week after the Six Nations finishes. The Co=Ordinator wrote:There's still this yawning chasm in the Saturday evening schedules straight after Christmas that is waiting for Doctor Who. But they won't bloody well fill it.
Re: When will Series 6 start?
This Easter start really does smack to me of a "Doctor Who" weekend. I can see no other reason to start it so late.

I bet this is so the first two episodes will be edited together as a feature length episode, and promoted as such for its première on BBC America.

Well that certainly makes sense to me. That way BBCA could promote it heavily as an "Event".The Browncoat Cat wrote:I bet this is so the first two episodes will be edited together as a feature length episode, and promoted as such for its première on BBC America.

BBC-A has been heavily promoting the fact that as of the start of Series 6, new episodes of Doctor Who will air in the US on the same day they are transmitted in the UK, a first in Doctor Who history.

Well, that's interesting. Speaking of America and Who. The series got a surprise name-check on the latest episode of House, when one of House's team revealed that he get's up in the middle of the night because that's the only time they air 'Classic' Doctor Who on the station he watches.

Re: When will Series 6 start?
The big problem I have with an Easter 2011 launch is that much of the publicity would be swamped by that surrounding the royal wedding from later in the week, including the distinct possibility that the fabled Radio Times cover would be lost as well.

That wouldn't be a problem if they launch on Good Friday!
