Re: The All-New Spoiler Thread
OK, so what are we thinking about the news that Jemma Redgrave plays a character called "Kate" in Episode 4, who is a UNIT big wig
It's come to light that her name is Kate *Stewart*
Surely too much of a coincidence for her not to be related to the Brig. I know there was a non-canon character called Kate, who was the Brig's daughter. Obviously it doesn't have to be exactly that character, it could even be niece or anything else. However, surely there's going to be something in having a UNIT big-wig with the name "Stewart"?

I'd heard that she's playing one of Henry VIII's wives, but that could have been old information.

Yeah. That was sort of my fault. Mea culpa, sorry.
When we heard her character was called Kate, we assumed maybe one of the three Catherines. Even when we heard it was "Stuart" as a surname, we just modified things to fit in with the Tudors vs Stuarts gubbins.
It became evident, though, that that Henry VIII was not instrumental, and just played by an SA for a short scene, while Jemma's character was more a proper character. Then, it was discovered that she plays some sort of character that appears to be in charge at UNIT, and then we found out her surname was "Stewart" not "Stuart". That's a different kettle of fish, surely?
I don't usually run with rampant wild speculation, and am notoriously cautious at flagging things, but in this case, it does seem to fit. Perhaps that's just because we've had so little lately, I agree. But it's certainly a valid theory.

It's presumed to be because Jenna Louise is now filming. But it doesn't necessarily mean that's the case.
Her character's name is allegedly Clara.

Oh dear, she seems to have passed me by.......
Clara was also Lis Sladen's middle name. And Moffatt apparently hasn't actually finished writing the Christmas episode yet.

Re: The All-New Spoiler Thread
Tom Spillsbury apparently tweeted a few days ago that the character would be called Melisa, with no surname. I have just checked his time-line on Twitter and can find no reference to this by the Editor of DWM. I hope that the character is the J-LC's chararacter's name, I prefer it to Clara.

Well, they were definitely using Clara when we were at Margam Park.

Sure, yes.
The Victorian shots we got of Jenna were from Episdoe 11, currently speculated to be "The Hider In The House"
They've filmed at Plas Llanimangel (22-23 May) (assumed to be interiors), Tyntesfield, Brisol (22 May), Gethin Woodland Park (29 May), Margam Park (30-31 May), Hensol Castle (1 June) (assumed to be interiors)
The shots that we picked up of Jenna, that you'll see floating all over the place were mainly from Margam Park. The only other thing that was picked up, is that Dougray Scott is starring in this episode and that since this is episode eleven, the backdrops we saw at Margam Park for the Tardis would appear to confirm that there's no redesign for the old girl this season. Hope that doesn't disappoint too much, but many had hoped they'd redesign the interior when they moved to Roath Lock studios. Can't say for certain that they haven't, but it was definitely the old backdrops.
They started filming (yet) again at Church Road Penarth on 6th June. Since they've filmed there so much lately, we weren't sure what it was going to be. Could it be James Corden returning, The Ponds or even something else entirely?
Well it turned out it was The Ponds returning after their high profile, hankerchief-waving "final scenes" extravaganza, which was a surprise to say the least!
We thought initially that it was for pick-ups. It's true that they might have been filming pick-ups as well, but one of things that came apparent the next day was that they're filming something extra (see *).
All the shots at Church Road were inside the Ponds' residence, but we know there was an Ood there, because we copped a look at his mask and sphere being taken out, and a quick look at the guy outside taking a break, wearing Ood strides.
Pic 1 of Ood Parts by Rhys
Next day filming began at The Plan Café inside Morgan Arcade Cardiff. Matt was seen talking to a mysterious cloaked, hooded guy, played by one of my favourite regulars, and all round brilliant person, Barnaby Edwards. Director was assumed to be Saul Metzstein, but Douglas Mackinnon was also reported to be seen there. Clapperboard said "1/Pre A" which could mean it's a prequel to episode one, or pre-titles.
Pic 2 by Rhys
Anyway, certain pieces of action have been witnessed, pilfered, lip-read, etc.
The Doctor sits in the café sipping tea. He spots the hooded guy, looks round and the hooded guy moves to sit by him. They talk a while and the hooded guy waves his hands about and The Doctor looks shocked.
Dialogue: "...Messenger..." "...see/meet you..." "I know (*waves finger*)". That's the best they could do dialogue wise.
They filmed scenes with the café occupied with customers, then carefully set up again what appeared to be similar/same scenes with it desserted, apart from The Doctor and hooded figure. So it's being assumed that at one point the hooded figure makes the café punters disappear, but who knows? Sometimes the amount that gets witnessed is such a tiny percentage that it doesn't really warrant the level of extrapolation. For example, one picture of Jenna posted in a certain pose gets so overanalysed, but sometimes the poster could easily have posted 50 other shots of a different pose. Anyway, I digress, in this case it's probably pretty sound reasoning.
Next, the same day, the action moved on to Bute Esplanade - the exterior of The Ponds' house.
Interesting that two simultaneous blocks of filming were taking place. Saul Metzstein, was directing the scenes with The Doctor approaching the Ponds' house with an umbrella (it was pouring down with real rain!) and later further scenes with him climbing onto the Tardis to leave an answerphone message for The Ponds on The Tardis's external orange phone, whilst simultaneously changing the Tardis's blue lamp bulb.
*The clapperboard didn't list the standard e.g."4/2" notation. It was; "WW19" . Not sure what that means (perhaps "Worldwide" for a DVD Extra?"). But the dialogue heard is why we're assuming that the scenes filmed the day before at Penarth weren't (just) pick ups.
Dialogue "Hello Pond, me again... [then something about Rory]... I've dropped your Ood back home, he's been missing his Hive Mind. Yeah... The Helmic Regulator's on the blink again, it got hit by an arrow!"
Pic 3 by Ryan;
Apparently, in the extra (or whatever it is) an Ood is left to stay with the Ponds. I'm tempted to say "with hilarious consequences", but to be honest I really don't like the latest comedy departures. I can do witty, & I can do funny, but I can't abide silly (hence the severe dislike of anything Gareth Roberts that got me into so much trouble a while back!)
Now, while this second scene was being filmed, Douglas Mackinnon was filming more scenes. These were clearly scenes of UNIT raiding the Ponds' house from Cubed (Chibnall's ep 4 story). We'd seen them setting up for the interior and garden shots weeks earlier in Penarth, plus they'd turned up with about a dozen UNIT soldier extras and a UNIT Landrover at Bute Esplanade beforehand to do these exteriors, but sent them all home unused. Why they did this, is a mystery, but it looked like a bit of a goof.
This time there were only 4 or 5 extras, and no landrover. Presumably it had been hastily/ opportunistically prepared and shot as they were already shooting just aside from the same spot. Perhaps they'll make them mill about and and re-shoot to make it look like more soldiers?

Thanks very much Simon. So these are definitely picks ups for ep 4, but are post ep 5 stuff for the Ponds? Or extra material? Or pick ups? Please excuse my stupidity!
