Isn't there anything else in the world you could be doing? The world is bigger than GB. There are worse things than GB out there, but there are also better things.

It tells you what I think, I'm sorry if it bothers you so much.

I don't really like giving my email out on public forums because I got a few death threats from random strangers last year so it'll be PMs my dear.

Re: Rate "The Big Bang"
Umm...at the risk of starting something, I thought it was rather poor...and by borrowing the ending of Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure to get the Doctor out of the Pandorica, there'll be a lot of people asking in the future why the Doctor can't travel back into the past to save himself every time now.
Re: Rate "The Big Bang"
Oh dear. Such a load of nonsense.
OK folks, guess I'll have to watch this place instead of the footy. Lets discuss the episode in a civil manner.

Re: Rate "The Big Bang"
My excuse (or "fan-generated continuity," if you prefer) is that the Tardis exploding made time go wobbly, which temporarily negated the Blinovitch limitation effect. You can only travel back in time to save yourself in the aftermath of a Tardis explosion.Nick Barlow wrote:Umm...at the risk of starting something, I thought it was rather poor...and by borrowing the ending of Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure to get the Doctor out of the Pandorica, there'll be a lot of people asking in the future why the Doctor can't travel back into the past to save himself every time now.

Anyway, makes sense that an exploding Tardis would make time go all weird and make normal rules not apply.

Re: Rate "The Big Bang"
To be fair, that's answered in the episode itself, as the Doctor mentions how, because they're in a bottle universe that's only two thousand years old and consists of one planet, usual rules don't apply.Nick Barlow wrote:Umm...at the risk of starting something, I thought it was rather poor...and by borrowing the ending of Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure to get the Doctor out of the Pandorica, there'll be a lot of people asking in the future why the Doctor can't travel back into the past to save himself every time now.
Not that the Blinovich Limiation Effect actually made sense in the first place!

Re: Rate "The Big Bang"
The problem with that - and I'm not arguing with it as an explanation for this story - is that once you've breached that wall, it starts becoming easy to invent other reasons for doing it in the future. Next time it's because the Tardis is about to explode, then it just becomes an easy get-out clause that allows you to do some clever-clever plotting, but removes a lot of potential threat.Lucy McGough wrote:My excuse (or "fan-generated continuity," if you prefer) is that the Tardis exploding made time go wobbly, which temporarily negated the Blinovitch limitation effect. Re: Rate "The Big Bang"
Then hopefully Moffat won't do it any more. It should be strictly for the aftermath of exploding Tardises!Nick Barlow wrote:The problem with that - and I'm not arguing with it as an explanation for this story - is that once you've breached that wall, it starts becoming easy to invent other reasons for doing it in the future. Re: Rate "The Big Bang"
But wasn't that the argument against the end of Parting of the Ways five years ago? That, if the owner of a Tardis is in danger, then simply open up the Tardis, stare into the vortex, and become a god?Nick Barlow wrote:The problem with that - and I'm not arguing with it as an explanation for this story - is that once you've breached that wall, it starts becoming easy to invent other reasons for doing it in the future. And that's never come back again.
As I said above, the messing round in time occurred after the universe ended, and on one lone planet that was dying. The normal rules didn't apply.

I think we've being saying for a long time that the finale would be wibbly wobbly timey wimey. I'm sure Moff has looked forward to fully exploring his concept for a long time now.

Exactly! This is exactly what a show about time travel should be doing. The Co=Ordinator wrote:I think we've being saying for a long time that the finale would be wibbly wobbly timey wimey. I'm sure Moff has looked forward to fully exploring his concept for a long time now.

Re: Rate "The Big Bang"
Gave it a 5.
Loved it.
I'd swear that M.S. was channelling Hartnell in the scene in Amelia's bedroom.
The only thing that's got me wondering is how come River turned up at the wedding with the empty diary?
Please, please, please don't let River be the embodiment of the Tardis.
One more thought - so Rory's badge was just a continuity error?
