C=O presents "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs"
Oh my gosh - is it that time of year already? Nearly.................
This year's panto is an adaptation that I've done of an old script of mine that was simply called 'Snow White'. Reduced somewhat, changed, some characters gone, new ones in their place, all new music and nearly all new gags.
Rehearsals start on Sunday week, show dates 6th to 8th January 2011 including 3 shows on the Saturday.
Our website has had an update, including a few clips embedded from the tube of yoo.

Re: C=O presents "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs"
Whatever happened to 'this is definitely the last show I'm going to do'...? Or are you the JNT of West London community theatre, continually persuaded to stay on?
Re: C=O presents "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs"
The memory cheats Councillor.
What I said is that Rapunzel was the last show I was writing. As I already posted, this is a re-working of an old script of mine. It took just three weeks during the terrible weather back in January to map out, and then a few days early this month to finalise.
It was actually quite enjoyable to do!

Hmm. Writing vs reworking? This may explain some of JNT-era Who...

Re: C=O presents "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs"
If anyone's interested, here is most of the cooking scene from the original version. And yes, that's me - in my role as director - laughing my head off in the wings. I simply adored this performance of it, everything came together.
To show how things change, none of this has made it into the updated version, and most of the characters have gone as well!
Instead there will be a tiling and grouting scene in which I plan to be heavily involved.

Re: C=O presents "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs"
Wasn't the Herbivore thinking of writing this year's script? Or have I made that up in the way Nick's made up your retirement*?

She's submitted a synopsis that has been approved. Now she's got to write the bloody thing!

Indeed. With a suggestion that 2 or 3 scenes are written this year..........................

Did I hear 'Queen Slthereen'?
I've heard of breaking the fourth wall: was that an example of moving the first wall?

Queen Slytherina. It predates the return of Who.

That cheeky stage crew eh?
A huge amount of work actually went into making that part of the set. The artist made the oven look like a "Neff" but painted the word "Naff" on it.
And on the other side was the shed prop for our "Ground Force" spoof scene - although in our case it was, perhaps inevitably, called Ground Farce!

I'm thinking you're going to be the Magic Mirror, and you're going to ham it up, too.

Re: C=O presents "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs"
Me? Ham it up?
No, not the Mirror! Although strangely enough, I've been reading in up till now as we only actually finally cast it a couple of weeks ago. The Mirror plays a pivotal narratorial role in the dramatic conclusion to Act One.

Well, there is this tradition of hamming it up that stretches back all the way to the TC-7 studio in 1986.

Alright then, I'm going to recall to mind some of your past roles, and suggest you'll be the Sleeping Beauty cameo.
