Not that I believe it.

I thought the idea was that Moffat was going to stay through Series 9, and he'd be replaced after that.

It appears that this may be Philip Morris trying to cause a stir. I will expand in the Missing Episodes thread.

Having met the C=O, I don't think his biggest issue is the possibility of 'expanding.'

On the subject of this potential replacement of Moffat, I'm inclined to agree with the C=O's assessment of the situation. I seem to recall an interview he gave a few months ago where he not only described his (and Gatiss') plans for a fourth and fifth series of Sherlock, but a 9th series of Doctor Who. The plans were rather vague (not surprisingly), but Moffat had clearly given it some thought. And I can't believe someone internally at the BBC is wanting to show Moffat the door, not given how he's taken this show to new world-wide levels of popularity.

Given that production on S9 starts in January, and there'll be a lot of pre-production work already going on, we'd likely know by now if Moffat had been replaced, wouldn't we?

Total speculation (and maybe hope) on my part, but how about the Death in Heaven is Missy and she regenerates back into The Master, played by Steve John Shepherd?

Interesting theory, C=O. Only five days to wait for confirmation...

Well that was 100% wrong!

So the Christmas special is called "Last Christmas". The Doctor and Clara face their Last Christmas. Trapped on an Arctic base, under attack from terrifying creatures, who are you going to call? Santa Claus!

The Doctor - Peter Capaldi
Clara Oswald - Jenna Coleman
Santa Claus - Nick Frost
Wolf - Nathan McMullen
Ian - Dan Starkey
Also featuring Michael Troughton, Natalie Gumede & Faye Marsay

Written by Steven Moffat
Directed by Paul Wilmshurst

The first UK transmission placement has it scheduled for 6.15pm, 25th December.

We may need to start a Series 9 News & Spoilers thread. I'm guessing Moffat hasn't gone to all this trouble to migrate the show to a fall start only to change that now. Which would seem to indicate another late August series premiere?

I may have to plan another visit to the UK for September based on this. Smile
