Who will be announced on DWC 3rd January as the 11th Doctor?
Re: So, the 11th Doctor...
Actually, it's obvious - Slaven Bilic announced today that he's quitting as Croatia's manager. If you saw the 98 World Cup semi-final, then you'll know he's a fantastic actor. Laurent Blanc is the new Master, with Steve McLaren as the Meddling Monk.

If only.
Then again, this could be an exclusive Wrinklie Zone admission from the man himself - and *this* is a full-sized sombrero which I have just roasted in the oven on a medium heat, ready for consumption.

I'm thinking of voting for this A.N. Other person, sounds interesting.
Do we have a gravitas reading on him/her though? Is it above average?

I voted for A. N. Other because I have no idea who "M" and Piers Wenger have chosen.

Sorry, chum: you're stuffed. They've just had your pic on BBC news, so you obviously don't have the job. If it's any help, however, I have a long list of people who would like to console you.

Odlićno. That means that Warped and I get to be the next Doctor's companions.
I look forward, with keen anticipation, to the first 'Aspadistra's bahookey' thread on DWF.

Patterson, Morrisey or Ejiofor.
Not that I'm hedging my bets or anything...
Hmm, is that the right expression? It looks a bit odd.
I will be out this afternoon but will record the Confidential for immediate watching on my return. I'm a bit torn as I will have the internet available where I am so could find out from that but... no, I will enjoy it more if I watch when I get back and then come on here. Probably...

I see a "Chatbox" and that one can "log in" to it. Just tested... Is that all I'll need to do?
And... can y'all give brief commentary for those of us who can't watch across the world? I mean, I'm not expecting the announcement until 6:05, so I'd be mildly curious to what the rest of the show is.

that's all you need to do my dear warped... and I'm sure a running commentary should be fine but perhaps not from me cos I've sprained my wrist and I'm only able type one handed.
I'm still faster than Sid though... cos he types two clawed- silly eocene

Well...this should be interesting. I'm coming to this totally without preconceptions, because I've never seen Matt Smith in anything else.

Re: So, the 11th Doctor...
I'm not familiar with him, but that was fairly inevitable whoever was picked, with two or three exceptions. There was something Doctor-y about him though, with his hands waving around! Good luck to Matt Smith! I would say I can't wait - but really, I can't wait to see his Doctor, but I can wait a long time watching DT some more. Hooray, anyway!

Re: So, the 11th Doctor...
As with Ratbag, I've not seen Matt Smith in *anything* before, so I'm a little bemused - and rather conscious of the fact that, for the first time ever, I'll be older than the current Doctor.
He looked good in the various clips, though - and kudos to Moffat for picking someone who'd managed to completely miss the fandom radar.

Wow. Looks like my source was right when they said the Beeb wanted a younger Doctor after all (given SM referred to a list of twenty-somethings). No Russell Tovey though.

It'll be my second time, I'm almost exactly a year older than Tennant.

I'm keeping an open mind about Smith, but I'm quite glad it wasn't Russell Tovey.

I s'pose I'd better clarify that by "No Russell Tovey" I mean that my source said that was who the BBC were after (but obviously it isn't him) rather than I think Matt Smith is "no Russell Tovey", in case anyone gets confused.
I'm staying open minded too, and I've heard good things about him, but I do share concerns about what this might make to the show's overall feel. As someone pointed out on DWF a young Doctor means a young Master as well as younger companions and there's a danger the whole thing might start to skew too much towards a "youth" demographic. That's not an issue in and of itself, but one that might alienate me a little. But we'll see and hopefully I'll be proved wrong.
