Re: The rather belated Series 5 Top Three
My top three? All of them, as series 5 was essentially one story. If forced to choose, I'd go for:
1: Vincent and the Doctor
2: The Eleventh Hour
3: The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang
I'm in a minority as a wrinkly, as I really enjoyed the last series, and can't understand half the criticisms levelled toward it. Hence my lengthy absence from these boards. But, in the Christmas spirit and all that...

Re: The rather belated Series 5 Top Three
Well, I'm still not feeling quite right with the last series but I don't know that I have more criticisms of it than I did of other series. I do think that maybe RTD's vision suited me a little better somehow but that isn't a criticism, just a (possible) preference. I enjoyed a lot of the stories and adored the Vincent one.Lee Carey wrote:My top three? All of them, as series 5 was essentially one story. If forced to choose, I'd go for:

Re: The rather belated Series 5 Top Three
I believe you make a very valid point here, andrea. I also suspect a lot of the problems some people have with series 5 is that in many ways it's a very transitional beast. Not exactly RTD's vision - yet still not entirely Moffat's total vision either. In many ways 5 displays many of the problems and inconsistencies exhibited by the Doctor himself during post regeneration trauma.

1. The Eleventh Hour
2. Vincent and the Doctor
3. The Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone
(And the Lodger, Pandorica Opens and Amy's Choice in particular are all very unlucky not to pick up points - I thought it was a fabulous series!)

Lee, I think you'll find if you scroll up thread a bit, you and I have the same top three (albeit in a slightly different order.) So, if you're in the minority among Wrinklies, you can take comfort in the fact that it isn't a minority of one.
I personally really enjoyed Series 5, and getting it on BluRay is a real treat- talk about a visual feast for the eyes!

Plus, as I also mention upthread: I really do think the problems some people have with series 5 is that in many ways it's a very transitional beast.

Re: The rather belated Series 5 Top Three
The Lodger
Amy's Choice
Vincent and the Doctor
But I really would like to say that Death of the Doctor should be in 3rd place.

Nothing like a colossal cliffhanger. Well that's what Mrs C=O says, anyway.

Re: The rather belated Series 5 Top Three
Now that is one seriously close call between the top two. I personally thought 'Vincent' just held the slight edge, but it's certainly a more than fair collective verdict. The Co=Ordinator wrote:The results are in..............

Can't really argue with these placings either. Although it's really interesting to note the marked gap between 'Pandorica' and the the lower two.The Co=Ordinator wrote:4th Amy's Choice 7pts

Now given the accepted open-mindedness and tolerance of the Wrinkly mindset, this is the real shocker. Three episodes that failed to garner a single vote between them! What does that indicate about the overall quality and consistency of Series 5's content?*The Co=Ordinator wrote:And the other three failed to score a single point between them!
*You know, it's a pity we don't have similar Top Tens for the RTD era to compare these results to. It might have proven very illuminating.

Damn, missed it. Oh well. Apropos of nothing, my top 3 would have been...
1. The Lodger
2. Vincent and the Doctor
3. The Vampires of Venice (ooh, controversy!)
