I stand by my assertion. Use of the phrases "betrayal of Wrinklydom itself" and "for shame all you people" are fightin' words.Johnstone McGuckian wrote:For what it's worth, I don't think it's a guilt trip.

Really - y'all simply shouldn't use such language here. You're trying to draw flies with vinegar.
It made me so mad I would've hit the report button--except that it's our administrator saying it.

I'm also one of the ones who don't contribute as much these days, mostly since I still need to rewatch quite a few of the episodes in order to comment: I also tend to forget what I wanted to say (we really need a multiquote function) by the time I've read through the thread or find that others have already posted what I would have done had I not come late to the feast.
The other reason has been that I've mostly been avoiding of all the NuWho related threads while the series was running so as not to get too spoilt - Sadly the Radio Times has on occasion spoiled me and I couldn't take certain things in this episode seriously having seen confidential and knowing that some actors were about to start shooting the next series.
I have only given this a 3 as I thought rolling in all the doctor's "enemies" (since when are the Judoon enemies? they are the police for goodness sake (admittedly very heavy handed police) and I can't see then allying themselves with most of the other nasties) was lazy and a step too far.
I'm still very much enjoying Dr Who - I tend to suspend disbelief (this is fiction after all) when watching and hope to get carried away by the story telling. It still makes me roar with laughter at times (can't find the spoiler tags and have already mentioned the Moff's fan baiting in the big bang thread) and cry.
I don't always watch it on time - now with the miracle of catch up and the iplayer I'm often watching on a Sunday or Monday not Saturday t time - plus I'm annoyed they keep moving the time around - easier to wait till the next day and watch it at leisure.

I didn't really take "Betrayal of wrinkliedom itself" seriously. I mean "wrinkliedom" is an abstract concept that has never officially been agreed exactly what it is, so betraying it is quite difficult. Filth's description of this place was originally to "keep away the mosquitos of Doctor Who fandom", and it's done that. The thing with silence is that it is pretty unreadable - are people just not here or reading and quietly seething like a forumful of Eric Sawards? Generally, I've found the negativity to those putting out negative opinions worse than negative opinions about the new series. After all, people are real and Doctor Who is (essentially) a TV show.
If part of the wrinkliedom creed is positivity then, again, it's hard for it be sustained on this forum. Being hidden, it's hard to see where the next person is going to come in and go "wow, they're being enthusiastic" and reinvigorate the place. From a personal point of view, I'm just less happy than when Dr. Who came back and when I first discovered the wrinklies and perhaps that's reflected with how I feel about the most recent series.

So, I have finally got around to posting my review of The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang on my Web Log The Journal of the Browncoat Cat. Can't for the life of me think what has taken me so long.
