Reminded me of Speed Racer. I liked how the mouth movements of the characters didn't match up with the English dialogue.
They did a great job of copying that style, mistakes and all. The Bat-Aquatic Menace Neutralizer (complete with Aquaman sound effect) was brilliant.Sid Seadevil wrote:Let alone Scooby Doo.

That was absolutely brilliant, wasn't it. I have some of those Batman strips and they captured the style to perfection.Zoltar wrote:"Lord Deathman has paid the price for his villainy! …though I’m certain he parachuted away to safety."

If i didn't know for certain this was a completely new cartoon I would have been convinced they'd unearthed an original unbroadcast episode.Sid Seadevil wrote:Let alone Scooby Doo.

I loved the randomness of a shark tank death-trap suddenly being in the stage.Sid Seadevil wrote:I loved it. If i didn't know for certain this was a completely new cartoon I would have been convinced they'd unearthed an original unbroadcast episode.

Yep. And the fact that it lead to a totally random "moral of the week" type lecture from the Caped Crusader.

Here's hoping we'll get another "Bat-Mite Presents..." for the next season.

It's probably going to be a shorter season than usual, but they clearly set things up so that there could be a sequel episode.Sid Seadevil wrote:I'd certainly hope so.

Yep. I'd imagine the next season to run no more than 12-13 episodes. In which case they can easily fit at least one in.

13 sounds about right. It also sounds too short.Sid Seadevil wrote:Yep. I'd imagine the next season to run no more than 12-13 episodes. In which case they can easily fit at least one in.
Anyway, I don't see why they couldn't, even if they did have an arc planned.

The replacement series is darker, grittier and CGI so I understand. Been there, done that, bought the tee shirt.

Re: Batman: The Brave and the Bold
I think some of the same folks working on Brave and the Bold will be working on the new series, so that gives me some hope. But yes, three seasons is far too short and I do hope the next series won't be humorless. I guess their intent is to make something that pairs well with the CG Green Lantern series.Sid Seadevil wrote:Three seasons is too short.

Re: Batman: The Brave and the Bold
Cartoon Network saw fit to air an episode of B and the B tonight, and it was neither of the ones they have yet to air from last season. Instead, it was a new one from season 3: "The Battle of the Super-Heroes!".

Typical slip-shod scheduling. Thanks for the tip, old fellow. I'll keep my eyes peeled for it.Zoltar wrote:Cartoon Network saw fit to air an episode of B and the B tonight, and it was neither of the ones they have yet to air from last season. Looks like Batman's Strangest Cases might be next week, so I guess they're folding those two into season 3 over here.Sid Seadevil wrote:Typical slip-shod scheduling. Thanks for the tip, old fellow. I'll keep my eyes peeled for it.

What a absolutely wonderful episode filled to the brim with Silver Age Superdickery that was.

Re: Batman: The Brave and the Bold
Glad you enjoyed it. They did indeed cram an amazing amount of references into that episode. Jimmy's various superpowered forms and the Superdickery being my faves. And Krypto of course. They even referenced the films by having Luthor be referred to as a "diseased maniac".Sid Seadevil wrote:What a absolutely wonderful episode filled to the brim with Silver Age Superdickery that was.

Not to mention Batman in his Dark Knight Returns armour - and the fact that they actually allowed Superman to beat him.

It's funny, it didn't even occur to me that that is actually rare these days. Much as I love the Bat, that's kinda sad.Sid Seadevil wrote:Not to mention Batman in his Dark Knight Returns armour - and the fact that they actually allowed Superman to beat him.

Re: Batman: The Brave and the Bold
It is rather sad. But that's the "Batgod" version of the character for you. Still, at least there's signs that the character is being moved away from that and humanised a little more in the comics these days.Zoltar wrote:It's funny, it didn't even occur to me that that is actually rare these days. Re: Batman: The Brave and the Bold
I don't mind the Batgod so much, so long as Superman is allowed to shine as well. I think part of the problem is that Supes isn't being used to his full potential by DC, he doesn't seem like the leader of the superhero community like he once was.Sid Seadevil wrote:It is rather sad.
