Oh, I believe what Steve Roberts said (on Roobarbs btw) 100%. He wouldn't have the vaguest interest in making such a post for the sake of it, and he's certainly in a position to know.

I've just had a look at www.saveiantojones.com
They do seem to be tackling this in a reasonably lighthearted manner. If nothing else, the coffee campaign should help the Beeb cut down on their hospitality costs!

You need to have read the Twitters and posts on James' blog. They have had an impact on him.

I've seen some of it on his blog. This is really nasty, he deserves praise, not this.

The ones criticising him are complete bastards. The poor guy is being torn to shreds as if he were an MP, not a man who's written a wonderful story.

You're right, of course: some of the comments have been awful. I'm assuming that the Ianto Jones website people are divorced from all that.

I'm experiencing a very uncomfortable '80s flashback. This has lead me to feel old. Please don't do that again, C=O, you're making confront my age. This is not allowed.

I reckon they're just jealous that they can't write anything as good.. It was truly a superb story, indeed I personally think that Children of Earth is one of the very best science fiction stories ever written.. If no BAFTAS are awarded to anyone for this, then I will eat my hat.. With chips..

"Day One" airs tonight on BBC-America, in HD. I expect another full round of angst at GB and around the blogosphere by the end of this week.

In fact, I did have Gin & Tonic last night upon returning to Chateau Patrick, and watched the second showing of "Day One" last night (10:00 PM).
