Re: Torchwood: Children of Earth
What time is it airing nightly on UK screens? The uploads to Youtube seem to be happening the next morning, leading me to believe that it may be airing late enough that no one wants to deal with cutting it into parts and uploading those parts late into the night.

Re: Torchwood: Children of Earth
Didn't see this tonight (I was out), but I did watch last night's on the iPlayer following your comments. And it was surprisingly competent. Nice to see Torchwood can do a decent episode without featuring either eBay or Martha Jones...
Did Queer as Folk and Bob and Rose not give it away?

Having just seen Day 2, I think John Barrowman has finally gotten the wish he was denied in Badwolf- he got his derierre shown on national TV.
Marvellous episode. Through two parts, I'm quite pleased.

Re: Torchwood: Children of Earth
I was round my drug dealers house and I made him put episode two on as I didn't want to miss it. The oddest thing - when Ianto was on the JCB my friend started humming the tune (Jack's theme, I believe) then I told him that the lyrics were "here he comes in a bloody big tractor" so I had him singing that for the rest of the episode. He's a Triad!
LOL!

It airs at 9pm or thereafter. Post watershed, because of the swearing and Barrowman's arse.
Please, don't bother with YouTube. Get yourself access to Usenet where folks are posting the hi-def binaries with surprising speed. Generally speaking, I'm seeing most stuff from the UK an hour or so after broadcast.
Re: Torchwood: Children of Earth
I've just had a thought - what if Jack doesn't know anything about the 456 and what happened in 1965? It's not outside the realms of possibility for someone to just assume that he'd know what happened then as he and Torchwood seem to have been involved in everything else.
Re: Torchwood: Children of Earth
Not bad. It did slide into typical Torchwood adolescent silliness and the writing wasn't as tight as on the first episode. However, Peter Capaldi totally rocks in this and is stealing the show! Whereas Liz May Brice has turned into the Sheriff of Nottingham and has nil characterisation.
Still, highly enjoyable.

He's not acting as if he knows anything about it, but he could have forgotten. The other names on the list - are they former Torchwood members, or just other people who know about the 456?

Overnights 5.6 million, 24.0% share.
Torchwood was the most watched programme of the day on British TV by getting on for one million viewers - beating Holby City, Eastenders & Emmerdale.

Or have 456 people been taken by the aliens over the decades/centuries?

According to the ratings thread at GB, Day Two was the most watched programme on British TV yesterday - 5.6m viewers and a 24% share.

Re: Torchwood: Children of Earth
Doesn't '456' refer to the frequency the aliens transmit over? The Co=Ordinator wrote:Rich Flair wrote:He's not acting as if he knows anything about it, but he could have forgotten. The other names on the list - are they former Torchwood members, or just other people who know about the 456?

Anyway, I think the other names on the list are people who know what happened in 1965, and Jack's only on there just because the Government would think he has to know something about it.
Re: Torchwood: Children of Earth
Oh, and to borrow a point from Mr Telly-Topping, John Barrowman's arse is now officially more popular than Michael Jackson.

Well, Barrowman, has given away this bit in most press hes done in the last while about Captain Jacks involvement with the children.....wait that sounded just...wrong
!!!!!and he knows all right
Jack started off as a conman and a rogue...and we see in Ep 1 thats hes quite willing to use his own grandson for his own means.
Just as well his daughter sees straight through him and wants him as far away as possible.....

Re: Torchwood: Children of Earth
A slow start to episode 3, but it picked up nicely - the 456 arrive exactly half way through the middle episode - and there was teriffic tension in the scenes with Frobisher and the ambassador. Tremendous performance by Peter Capaldi.
So overall, perhaps the weakest of the three, but that's in comparison to what we've had so far. It was still very good indeed.
And here's a useless piece of information. The real name of Ian Gelder, who plays Mr Dekker, is Ian White & he went to school with one of my regular bridge four.

Good call.
I got "The Sound of Drums" vibes tonight. 10%, and I swear that "The Hub 2" was the same warehouse used in TSOD!

Re: Torchwood: Children of Earth
Yeah, my theory was wrong, but I still think there's mileage in a future story where someone's trying to stop Jack because they figure he must know about something and doesn't.
Anyway, this is all still rather good, though I had figured who 'the man' was when Clem started mentioning him. I guess the big questions now are what the 456 want the children for, and what they're going to do if they don't get them.
EDIT: Oh, and a thought that came to me - can anyone name another Who alien with a Torchwood connection that lives in a tank full of smoke?

Re: Torchwood: Children of Earth
Did anyone else get vibes of Macra from the 456? I'm not saying that they are because that's just silly, but still very Macra esque.
